There are so many innovative and interesting changes going on in the world of cruises. Cruise lines are competing against each other to separate themselves from the pack.

Are you a golfer? Why would you want to play golf while cruising on the rivers of Europe? Maybe, because you would never get the opportunity to experience some of the world’s greatest golf courses outside of your area. Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Line is offering golf excursions on its Paris & Normandy itinerary. The courses offered are the Golf de Rouen Mont-Saint-Aignan and Gog d’Etretat. Those are available during an eight-day river cruise along the Seine River in France. More cruise news. Regent Seven Seas, the most all-inclusive luxury cruise line has announced a 2nd Explorer class ship, the 750 passenger Splendor. Deemed the most luxurious ship ever built, the Splendor is set to sail in 2020.

Large cruise ships will officially be banned from the Venice city’s terminal within four years.All cruise ships over 55,000 tons will need to use a new route and dock in the industrial port of Marghera. In order to get into the historic tourist area, passengers will need to travel by bus, taxis or watercraft.Cruise ships from Oceania Cruises, including the Oceania Sirena,Oceania Insignia, Oceania Nautica, Oceania Regatta, Silversea Cruise Line, Seabourn and Regent Seven Seas will have no docking issues along the canals of Venice. Celebrity Cruises is building the first totally new ship dedicated to sailing in the Galapagos. The Celebrity Flora, debuting in 2019, will offer the same itineraries as the 100-passenger Xpedition The Flora will be twice the size of the Expedition. The passenger capacity will be the same as the Xpedition, but will feature a pool, two restaurants and two lounges. The Penthouse suites will be 1,288 square feet. Princess Cruises has transformed a terminal they use in Port Everglades for Ft. Lauderdale arrivals into a hassle-free experience for boarding. Currently available for Regal Princess guests, the terminal is equipped with the Ocean Medallion interactive device and Ocean Compass app. Six more ships will be using the device in 2018.Passengers that are boarding any Medallion-enabled ship can have a disc mailed to them before their arrival. A network of sensors will be attuned to the Ocean Medallion,

an electronic disc about the size of a quarter and is designed to activate services on the ship. Upon activation, passengers will be able to board without having to stop at the check- in desk. How cool is that.
